Annyoung Haseyo!

Annyoung Haseyo! haha these past 2 weeks were great I got to do a lot of cool things and we have some awesome investigators! So for Mothers day I was able to call my family and talk with them, I didn't Skype because it was to much of problem so I just called! It was great to hear my families voices! so 2 weeks ago we meet up with one of our investigators on Buddha's birthday; and he took us to a Buddhist temple. so it was really interesting! I got to see a lot of neat things!! the place was packed with people and I stood out pretty bad! so I had a lot of people coming up to me and talking with me!

but Korean is coming great! people are always amazed with how much Korean I can speak because most foreigners here can get by with English so its always great first talking to some one! and they freak out even more when I tell them I have been in Korea for only 3 months!! but things are going good here in Korea! of course Korea is a really hard place to serve but it is worth it! I feel blessed every morning to be able to serve here!

I am starting to become a Korean being here, I want to take on every bit of the culture an try my hardest to be Korean! the food here is probably the most exciting thing! but now the food feels normal to me!

This week we were able to go hiking for zone conference we went next to my last area and hiked an old castle/ military base. it was super cool I saw a lot of amazing things like Korean bees! Holy cow they are huge they are the size of a 10 normal bees put together! and we also got to see breath taking views of Seoul! but due to global warming!;) the air was all gross!

We had an interesting experience me and my companion were walking behind president and his ap's and they were talking to a group of hikers and one of them was drunk or something and as they were leaving he pulled out $100 and gave it to the ap's telling us to go buy some drinks! but the ap's tried refusing to accept it, but the man forced them to talk it! Korean culture is really nice, it is about sharing and sharing!
At the top of the hike by an old Castle! It was awesome!

My new Companion "한창용  han chang young" !

so on the streets we have people constantly asking us if we want food and offer us free stuff all the time! well have a great week everyone love you all Elder G

I'm finally a "Real Missionary"!

So this week we finished the 12 week training program so I am a real missionary now! But we got transfer calls this week! Its quite an interesting situation, my new companion is a Korean!  The ward I am serving in now is his home ward! So I know his family! but the new area I'm going to is amazing the church used to be the biggest church in Asia it might still be the biggest I am not to sure! but the church is were all the mission conferences and big gatherings happen! so this next month Elder Cook is coming to my church for a mission conference! but the area I am serving is called 영등포( young deng po)- I have the hardest time with English- Korean! haha but this week was great we had stake conference which is my whole zone! So we spent Saturday and Sunday at the stake center! but the rest of the week was pretty much the same! Elder Payne left to Japan yesterday so we are in a three some right now with his companion, he is on his way to compete in another competition! I'm super excited to have a Korean companion maybe I might learn some Korean! love you all have a great week!

Elder Payne had a competition this week. So we went to that on Saturday it was in Inchoen so we traveled a few hours on subway with some members and investigators and we watch him compete with all the worlds best gymnastics players! It was pretty cool I saw some famous korean people there and I almost got a photo with one of the guys but you can compare them to like Micheal Philps in America but here in Korea!

Bruno in Korea!!!!

Well the past 2 week were amazing! We got to watch conference on Saturday and Sunday! on Saturday we watched it only with our bishop and 2nd counselor and after we went out to dinner with all the missionaries and the sisters investigators!

Two high school girls who are super funny to be around and they have plans to get baptized in June! Also we had a baptism last Saturday for another one of the sisters investigators! but last p-day we went to the Olympic park and walked around and took photos its right next to our area and the gym we go to for Elder Payne! But we also went to a big mall here and eat taco bell! ha-ha I miss my Mexican food! but the mall was connected to the Korean version of Disneyland!

So we walked around for a little bit and just checked things out!  Then we went to the gym and studied while Elder Payne practiced! He has an event this Saturday in Incheon! So we get to go to that with some members from our ward! but he also gets to go to Japan near the end of this month for a big comp. so we went and got a name tag that can be sowed on his uniform so that well be really cool!

This last week I also got to experience a Korean bath house! it was super fun we got to relax in a sauna and hot tube for a couple hours! But things are going great here in Korea its a little difficult!

Well today is my first day not wearing a suit so I feel like a real missionary wearing only a short sleeve shirt! Love you all have a great week!

Update on Elder Grossgebauer,

Hello from South Korea! We didn’t get to go hiking because it rained on Thursday! I get to watch Conference with my ward next week end. But it might just be me and my companion and two other Elders that will watch it on a laptop or we might watch it all to together with the ward we are not sure yet. They will have to read the subtitles. I can’t wait to learn what the Lord wants us to know and seek personal revelation!

Right now I’m reading in the 몰몬경(book of Mormon) I’m reading it side by side and I just made it to Mosiah I’m also reading preach my gospel, side by side so my studies are a little slow but I’m doing this so by the year mark I can maybe just read in the Korean version of the scriptures!

I also got to experience my first bath house, it was quiet the experience! It was super relaxing! The Sauna felt good!
I  say hello in english to the kids and they will try speaking english and so it's pretty fun!
Here in Korea our english class is the best way of getting investiagors and people to come to church! this week our english class took us out to dinner and feed us!! So that is always super fun, The sister Missionaries got another Baptism last week!
I love you all so much and I absolutely love it here in Korea! I love the people! I love you all!
Love Elder G

Pad Duke 받둑

This week was great!  First off we found a new investigator! He is the best he teaches us a Korean game called 받둑(pad duke), because he always says that he is a 받둑 master and a 받둑 Missionary! 받둑 is a game like chess but you only use black and white stones and try and cover the board! All the old men here play it at the park and gamble over it! Our investigator has meet with a bunch of missionaries in the past and knows all the lessons, so it is great because I get to practice my Korean on him. He teaches us how to play and we teach him for about 30 mins! So hopefully we can get him to open up to Religion!

But this week I got my first haircut in korea it wasn't as scary as my companion made it sound I just showed the lady a picture of my hair in the MTC and she copied it! This is my new Korean Suit!

But this week we had interviews so we went to the zone leaders area and had a 15 min interview with president! After that we went to a 김밥나라 (mc donalds equivelent) and i had 순대국 ( its a soup with noodles and pig meat) - which happend to be the pigs intestines haha which i thought was super good!

This week we went to an orcesthra concert for our friend who works at pizza school! He gave us free tickets to it!

Inline image 1

So we went and enjoyed some amazing music!! Also one of  the the guys came out and was blind and he is super famous in korea for playing the violin!

But this week i also learned how to make 똑뽁이 my favoirte korean food! we made it with the sisters and their investigators!
Today I dont have my p-day because we get to go to the temple this thursday and we are going hiking right after with people from our zone!

I love you all have a good week! elder G

Saturday, March 29, 2014

sorry I haven't sent the weekly email for a while, I'll continue doing them though! so the past 3 weeks have been eventful we now have 3 investigators! which we found all in a couple days! we have only had one lesson with each of them! but the last few weeks have been fun! last p-day we went to an island and rode bikes around the park and checked out the Korean national building(like the  capital building)! My companion and I started getting up at 6 every morning to go running we run to a park that is about a mile away and work our for 20 mins with a bunch of old Korean men! and I also bought a Korean suit! we went to su-won and we got to pick our fabric and we got custom sized all for $160! then today we are going to a market place that sells books and ties for cheap! But my district changed this last week we have a new elder and sister! the sister is Korean so we have two Korean sisters in our district now! so hopefully that well help with my language! but this Saturday we get to go to an orchestra concert for are new friend who works at a pizza school we always go to!

I got to take the one of the elder's to the transfer location and pick up the new elder and take the subway back to were we live so that was fun! I had to do that because his companion is an Olympic gymnast for Canada and he had his gym time during that time! he works out for 3 hours a day at one of the colleges in the Olympic park here! so I get to go with him once a week and study while he does his thing! he is super good! before bed every night he does a hand stand for 20 mins and alternates from one hand to the other! I love it here in Korea! He invited us to go so hopefully that leads somewhere! I love you all have a good week!  Elder Grossgebauer!

Let's go Ice Cream!! week 3 in Korea!

So this week was eventful! on Monday after emails we went and contacted we got yelled at my first time all we got to say was we are missio/ and he cut in and yelled at us in Korean so it wasn't that bad because I had no idea what he was saying! But Monday all we did was contacting all day so that was great! Tuesday we meet with the sisters and went to 하나시 which is about 20 mins away on bus. so we did street boarding for a few hours and the people there were super nice because they don't see foreigners as much! after that we split upon and did a few more hours of contacting. we travel allot by bus and subway! we spend about 50 dollars every 2 weeks on travel cost! we do allot of our contacting at intersections and just causally talk to every one! but that night we meet up as a district and had dinner at an area 70's house he wasn't there it was his daughter that made us a big meal of spaghetti, bulgogi, and rice!! it was super difficult eating spaghetti with chopsticks! then after dinner she went and bought us ice-cream! On Wednesday we meet up for lunch as a district before district meeting we had lunch at Ashley's a nice American buffet, we enjoyed fresh salad and my new favorite thing Hawaiian fruit salad! after district meeting we contacted and went to English class! we talked about how people react in stressful situations! but one of the students found out my name was German so he went off talking about German beer, German food, and he repeated that he loves beer like every other sentence! On Thursday we had our p day we went to the temple in the Seoul
mission! i was able to meet up with other missionaries from my last district so that was nice! we then went with the sisters to gang-nam and enjoyed some tacos at this Mexican restaurant! we walked around Gang-nam for a few hours we went shopping in the subway markets but we couldn't find any men's stores everything was for lady's! which Korea is the place for lady's who loves clothes and shoes because every other store is a shoe store! on Friday we did weekly planning which was fast because we have no investigator to plan for! but we then went and contacted for a while then meet up with our district to get some pizza school! the guy that works there loves us so he gives us any thing in the mini fridge for free which we feel bad taking things we just grab a small soda every time! we then went back to the church and practiced our singing performance for Saturday! on Saturday we went to the church early and cleaning the baptismal font and got everything ready! we then had English class! we talked about education and then talking about America and guns! haha all the people in my class call me John F. Kennedy because they think I look just like him!! English class is one of the best ways for us to get investigators so we do English class allot. we have some one who we are going to meet with soon so hopefully we will have an investigator soon! but the after noon we had an amazing 침례 식 (baptizmal service) we had people talk about baptism and then we  preformed our sound! ( I need thee every hour) and she was baptized!! we had food after! Koreans love food which every thing is centered around food! we are constantly being feed which is good! but I am gaining weight though!! after the service we had young men's and young women's we played spoons, card games and had Korean snacks! Sunday we had church then after we played contacting bingo with the sisters we made a bingo board of people who you could see on the street like some one wearing a red hat, or some one working out etc. so we did that for a couple hours! the sisters one of course! but it was super fun doing that because we were super excited to talk to every one! then that night we went to a members house and they made a bunch of food for us! my ward loves me because I love Korean food! i have been able to eat every thing I have been given so far! but after dinner we talked about there missions and they showed us photos of their mission and after we gave them a quick message! I love being in Korea, I love the people, the food, the culture! i feel really blessed to be out here! I love you all! have a Good week!
